Today I am sharing a quick, one-layer card featuring the new Woodland Wishes stamp set. While I do enjoy making cards with different patterns and dimension, there is something fun about bringing a design to life with just ink and paper. Here is my card:
I played around with a few different colors for the fox and the bunny. Of course the colors don’t have to be what you would find in nature, and I wanted to bring in brighter colors. For my first two attempts the bunny was grey and the fox was a darker brown, but they were too similar to the deer and bear. I like the combinations of colors better on this card, my third attempt.
Here are most of the colors of Stampin’ Blends that I used:
- Bear: Light and Dark Crumb Cake
- Deer: Light and Dark Golden Glow
- Fox: Light and Dark Calypso Coral
- Squirrel: Light and Dark Golden Glow with a little Light Pecan Pie
- Bunny: Light and Dark Fresh Freesia
- Birds and Owl: Light and Dark Balmy Blue
- Top Bird: Light and Dark Poppy Parade
- Leaves: Light and Dark Granny Apple Green
- Stars: Light and Dark Daffodil Delight
- Ornaments, Present and Berries: Poppy Parade and Summer Splash
- Outline: Light Pool Party
After finishing the coloring, I was undecided if I wanted to add some bling with sequins or glossy dots. But in the end, I left it flat and added the Pool Party outline around the image. Adding the outline gives my one-layer card a bit more pop and ties everything together with the card base color. And I finished it off by adding some white dots with the White Gel Pen. There are a bunch of sentiments from Woodland Wishes that work nicely under this design and I stamped my choice in Garden Green.
Have you purchased this set yet? Do you enjoy making Christmas in July Cards, or do you wait until the weather starts to turn? And the important question of the day: what color would you choose for the bunny?
