There is so much to love about the Sunflower Fields Suite and I have lots of inspiration for you. I’m sharing my first six cards and they focus heavily on the Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper. SUNFLOWER FIELDS CARD #1
First up is the easiest card to make. The only tool you need here is the Paper Trimmer. And the design works well for a horizontal OR vertical card. To make the sunflower pattern pop off the card, pick a more solid pattern for the background DSP and mat the strips in a dark color.
- Card Base: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
- DSP Background: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
- Early Espresso: Mat: 4-3/8″ x 3-5/8″
- (3) DSP Strips: 3-1/2″ x 1-3/8″
- Thin Early Espresso Strip: 4-1/4″ x 1/4″
- Early Espresso Sentiment Mat: 2-3/8″ x 1-3/8″
- White Sentiment Rectangle: 2-1/4″ x 1-1/4″
The sentiment is from the Radiant Sunflowers stamp set stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and the card is finished off with the Radiant Gems.
CARD #2
The next card is also easy to put together, but is stepped up a bit with a die cut for the sentiment and some ribbon and Linen Thread.
Measurements:
- Early Espresso Card Base: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
- Daffodil Delight Mat: 4-3/4″ x 3-5/8″
- Bottom DSP: 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
- Top DSP: 3″ x 3-1/2″
I stamped the sentiment in Secret Sea ink and shortened the die cut shape so that it fits better on the card. The ribbon is from the suite and called Mossy Meadow & Very Vanilla 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon. I also used the Radiant Gems on this card.
PRO TIP:Â
When I started playing with the Sunflower Fields suite, I laid out each pattern of DSP facing up. Then I cut a standard 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card base and a 5-1/4″ x 4″ mat in each of the colors listed on the packaging for the DSP: Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Golden Glow, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, and Secret Sea. This way, when I started designing my cards I could easily compare which mat/base combination would look the best.
CARD #3
This card is stepped up with an Embossing Folder and a die cut sunflower that I colored with our Stampin’ Blends. I love adding texture with an embossing folder in addition to multiple patterns of Designer Series Paper. There are several options for the scallops poking out from the sides. You can find a scallop die in the new Scalloped Christmas Cheer Dies or the Home for Christmas Dies. I used the retired Lovely Arrangements Dies.
- Standard A2 card base: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
- Embossed Secret Sea background: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
- The top and bottom triangles are a 3″ square cut in half on the diagonal
- White mat is 2-3/4″ x 4″
- The inside DSP piece is 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″
I used the Bronze, Ivory, Pecan Pie, Daffodil Delight, Golden Glow, and a tiny bit of Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends to color the sunflower image. The Secret Sea background is embossed with the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder to give the card some extra texture. And my sentiment is from Soiree Salutations. I decided not to add the Radiant Gems on this card because there is already a lot going on.
CARD #4
This card focuses more on the fun die-cuts in the suite. And, I brought in the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder for the background.

- Early Espresso Card Base: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
- Background embossed Early Espresso layer: 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Cajun Craze Mat: 3-3/8″ x 3-7/8″
- Â Sunflower Fields DSP: 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″
I used Daffodil Delight cardstock for the sunflower dies and then went in with the same color Stampin’ Blend to make it slightly darker. The stem/leaves are Old Olive. I used Cajun Craze cardstock with a die from Scalloped Blooms and then the inside circle is the lighter side of the Autumn Fields Two-Tone Cardstock cut out with a Stylish Shapes Die. And of course I finished it off with a few of the Radiant Gems.
CARDS #5 and #6
These cards are grouped together because once you cut the triangles you will mix & match to make two cards.
Measurements:Â
- Secret Sea Mat: 3-13/16″ x 5-1/16″
- Golden Glow Mat: 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Secret Sea Card Base: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Directions: start with two different patterns of DSP cut to 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ and then cut each in half both directions. This gives you four rectangles from each piece of DSP. Next, cut each of the eight rectangles on the diagonal. This gives you enough triangles to make two cards. I stamped behind the sentiment on each card using Versa Mark Ink. I also brought in dies from Scalloped Blooms, Stylish Shapes and Nested Essentials.
